CloudBrowser AI alternative

CloudBrowser AI at cloudbrowser.ai provides remote Chrome, MCP tools and a browser API with live desktop control. Its saved-session option has a specific scope: cookies and localStorage, without open tabs. Compare that browser state with the complete Linux environment a broader agent needs to return to.

When CloudBrowser AI fits

CloudBrowser AI fits teams wanting remotely controlled Chrome, live observation or handoff, and MCP/API access from an existing assistant. It is distinct from the BrowserCloud.io service and has its own session and plan contract.

When to consider Sandbox0

Consider Sandbox0 when the agent also needs persistent system tools, package installs, configuration and growing files. You can retain the remote browser as a tool or run a compatible browser stack; supply proxies and live-control features according to the application’s needs.

CloudBrowser AI and Sandbox0: what persists?

Online RootFS growth

On growth-enabled images, Sandbox0 automatically expands the writable RootFS as free space runs low, within a configured sparse logical ceiling up to 64 TiB. Agent processes keep running. Growth is enabled in the qualified Cloud region; confirm activation for other regions. Existing images and snapshots retain their captured storage geometry. The ceiling is logical capacity, not preallocated host disk.

CloudBrowser AI preserves selected browser storage when saving is enabled. Its browser-hour/usage-unit plan does not establish automatic expansion of a complete Linux filesystem. Sandbox0 retains the agent’s installed tools, system configuration and accumulated files in its separate RootFS.

Files while compute is paused

Sandbox0's Files API reads persistent files without resuming compute. Filesystem-only pauses also permit edits; retained-memory pauses are read-only and reject mutations with 409. SSH, SFTP, file watching, and runtime-only mounts require running compute.

Listing saved browser sessions is not a full Linux Files API. The reviewed docs do not establish read/write access to an agent’s paused RootFS; persist important artifacts and navigation state in the surrounding application.

Saving a session does not restore its open tabs

The Open Browser reference says saveSession periodically saves cookies and localStorage and saves again at the end; it does not save open tabs. Saving and recovery default to false, and labels identify the saved state. The separate saved-session list exposes creation/update timestamps. Explicitly restore navigation and application progress around that narrower saved state.

Idle closure can be configured independently of account hours

keepOpen is an inactivity setting in seconds, defaulting to 300. Zero disables that inactivity closure according to the reference; it does not establish a free idle browser, a guaranteed uninterrupted computer or an exception to other service limits. Close unused browsers and budget actual open-session usage.

A managed browser container is one tool boundary

The architecture guide describes each browser running in its own container and returning a WebSocket endpoint. The public site also offers MCP and live remote desktop. These interfaces can serve an agent hosted elsewhere; they do not establish a customer-managed Linux installation or arbitrary process-memory restore.

Compare billing models, then price your workload

CPU allocation, memory, billing minimums, disk, plan fees, and supported workload differ. These meters are not equal-performance machine quotes. Confirm region, resource units, and included allowances before estimating a total.

The monthly cards include premium proxy access and live remote desktop; annual plans advertise two months free. The reviewed homepage does not establish a general conversion for every usage unit or an unlimited proxy-bandwidth allowance. Do not add browser hours and usage units as independent pools or treat tab/concurrency limits as retained Linux disk capacity.

Before migrating from CloudBrowser AI

  1. Record MCP/API methods, labels, save/recover flags, proxy requirements, tab/concurrency limits and navigation that saved sessions do not retain.
  2. Port compatible agent tools and durable outputs to Sandbox0, keeping CloudBrowser AI as a remote browser where useful or supplying a tested replacement.
  3. Verify reauthentication and tab reconstruction, inactivity behavior, system-package retention, online RootFS growth, paused files and combined browser/runtime cost.

Common questions

Is Sandbox0 a drop-in CloudBrowser AI replacement?

Evaluate API compatibility and product scope. These products serve different core workflows, so a change may require a different architecture.

Does keeping files also keep a running agent?

Filesystem state and volatile process state are separate. Sandbox0 requires explicit compatible memory checkpoints to preserve running processes; its default filesystem resume starts fresh processes.
