A ComputerUse.space alternative for currently available hosted agent compute

ComputerUse.space describes a planned dedicated ThinkCentre rental service using managed Proxmox guests. Its current documentation distinguishes a Linux owner pilot from customer rentals, which remain disabled. Evaluate that release state before treating planned storage, integrations, or prices as a purchasable machine.

When ComputerUse.space fits

ComputerUse.space may fit a future requirement for a dedicated physical host and a managed desktop on it. Its owner pilot and management APIs can be evaluated in their documented scope; customer inventory, live payments, and integration readiness remain separate gates.

When to consider Sandbox0

Consider Sandbox0 for hosted Linux agent runtime integration with persistent whole-RootFS state, online growth, and supported file operations during pauses. It is not an equivalent dedicated physical desktop or a turnkey video-editing service.

Online RootFS growth

On growth-enabled images, Sandbox0 automatically expands the writable RootFS as free space runs low, within a configured sparse logical ceiling up to 64 TiB. Agent processes keep running. Growth is enabled in the qualified Cloud region; confirm activation for other regions. Existing images and snapshots retain their captured storage geometry. The ceiling is logical capacity, not preallocated host disk.

Planned customer storage and future NAS/object-storage options do not establish automatic online whole-RootFS growth in a deployed customer service. Verify released capacity and recovery before comparing.

Files while compute is paused

Sandbox0's Files API reads persistent files without resuming compute. Filesystem-only pauses also permit edits; retained-memory pauses are read-only and reject mutations with 409. SSH, SFTP, file watching, and runtime-only mounts require running compute.

Installed host RAM is not the final guest allocation

The proposed plans name 8 GB and 16 GB installed host memory, with Proxmox and management overhead reducing what the guest can use. The site requires verified inventory and final guest allocation before checkout. A registered candidate host is not proof of available rental stock.

Planned file retention is different from deployed customer recovery

The product materials distinguish stopping an agent, shutting down the desktop, and resetting storage. They describe planned retention and backup choices, but the reviewed release status does not establish a production customer whole-RootFS or memory-checkpoint guarantee. Verify each desktop, file, and integration feature separately.

Published targets are prelaunch estimates

The homepage shows 30-day and annual price targets, explicitly labels inventory unavailable for purchase, and says customer rental payments remain disabled. Model inference, licensed applications, proxies, and optional storage are separate. Do not quote those targets as a currently activated cloud VM.

Pricing

Compare billing models, then price your workload

CPU allocation, memory, billing minimums, disk, plan fees, and supported workload differ. These meters are not equal-performance machine quotes. Confirm region, resource units, and included allowances before estimating a total.

These are planned prices, not available rental inventory. Twelve 30-day payments and one calendar-year annual term are different durations. The site states no current SLA and separates inference, software, proxy, and optional storage costs.

Sandbox0

$0.015/GiB-hour compute (billed by the second at approximately $0.000004167/GiB-second), plus $0.02/GiB-month of retained incremental RootFS and memory checkpoint data. Shared base images and platform recovery retention are excluded; paused sandboxes accrue storage charges only.

Retained data / GiB-month

Paused compute

A 4 GiB agent, 100 running hours

$6.00 compute

4 GiB × 100 hours, billed by the second. Keeping 20 GiB of billable incremental data for a full billing month adds $0.40. CPU is derived from memory by the platform; choose a tier that fits your workload.

Before migrating from ComputerUse.space

  1. Confirm whether an environment is an owner pilot or customer rental, then export any existing files using authorized access.
  2. Separate desktop, application, dedicated-hardware, and agent-loop requirements before packaging compatible work on Sandbox0.
  3. Validate real application compatibility, full system persistence, RootFS growth, paused file access, and effective released pricing.

Common questions

Is Sandbox0 a drop-in ComputerUse.space replacement?

Evaluate API compatibility and product scope. These products serve different core workflows, so a change may require a different architecture.

Does keeping files also keep a running agent?

Filesystem state and volatile process state are separate. Sandbox0 requires explicit compatible memory checkpoints to preserve running processes; its default filesystem resume starts fresh processes.
