E2E Networks alternative for persistent Linux agents

E2E Networks offers several node families, and E1 already separates root storage from compute. Its Stop action deallocates compute while keeping storage; Power Off leaves the allocation billed. For agents, choose the exact node family and state rather than applying one lifecycle to all E2E products.

When E2E Networks Cloud fits

Choose E2E for full VM control, regional infrastructure and GPU or other specialized services. E1 root storage, node snapshots and saved images are useful state-management capabilities to retain when they fit the workflow.

When to consider Sandbox0

Consider Sandbox0 for compatible Linux agents with integrated automatic online low-space RootFS growth and supported paused files. Keep required E2E GPU, application, network or full-kernel services.

Online RootFS growth

On growth-enabled images, Sandbox0 automatically expands the writable RootFS as free space runs low, within a configured sparse logical ceiling up to 64 TiB. Agent processes keep running. Growth is enabled in the qualified Cloud region; confirm activation for other regions. Existing images and snapshots retain their captured storage geometry. The ceiling is logical capacity, not preallocated host disk.

E1 already retains a whole root disk through deallocated Stop and offers explicit root growth with state, snapshot and free-space checks. That differs from Sandbox0’s integrated low-space-triggered online growth and supported paused-file interface.

Files while compute is paused

Sandbox0's Files API reads persistent files without resuming compute. Filesystem-only pauses also permit edits; retained-memory pauses are read-only and reject mutations with 409. SSH, SFTP, file watching, and runtime-only mounts require running compute.

A Stopped E1 node allows only start/delete; management actions require starting it. Retained disks and saved images are not native file-level operations throughout a stopped RootFS with guest compute remaining off.

See paused file operations →

E1 Stop and Power Off are different

E1 Stop deallocates the node and pauses compute billing; root storage and add-ons keep billing. Power Off keeps normal node charges. Restarting a Stopped node may take longer because capacity must be allocated again. Disk-intensive workloads should shut the OS down cleanly before Stop to reduce corruption risk.

Root growth is an explicit validated operation

E1 can increase root storage from Running or Powered off states when validation permits. The node must have enough free space for the check and no active root-disk snapshots, locks, rescue/DR role or concurrent resize. A Stopped E1 node permits only start/delete until it starts again.

Use the revised price period and correct family

The pricing update applies GPU/storage/snapshot changes from July 1, 2026 and CPU changes from August 1. Current C3 displayed prices describe a different node family from E1’s separately selected root-storage workflow. Do not use an older committed-rate assumption or infer E1 rules for all nodes.

Before migrating from E2E Networks Cloud

  1. Identify E1 versus other node families, Stop versus Power Off, root/storage size, snapshots, DR and applicable revised tariff.
  2. Export consistent installed-system/user data and configure compatible tools on Sandbox0 while retaining necessary E2E services.
  3. Test low-space growth, system retention, paused files and complete active compute, retained root/storage, snapshot, IP and network costs.

Common questions

Is Sandbox0 a drop-in E2E Networks Cloud replacement?

Evaluate API compatibility and product scope. These products serve different core workflows, so a change may require a different architecture.

Does keeping files also keep a running agent?

Filesystem state and volatile process state are separate. Sandbox0 requires explicit compatible memory checkpoints to preserve running processes; its default filesystem resume starts fresh processes.
