Workflow orchestration / FlowDeploy Bioinformatics Pipelines alternative

A FlowDeploy alternative for portable agent execution

FlowDeploy’s YC company profile currently marks it inactive. The profile describes a bioinformatics pipeline platform for Nextflow and Snakemake, operating in managed or customer cloud infrastructure. Treat that historical workflow product separately from an available general-purpose GPU rental or agent sandbox.

When FlowDeploy Bioinformatics Pipelines fits

An existing FlowDeploy installation or agreement needs its own support and access assessment. Its described workflow templates, cloud integrations and bioinformatics pipeline management are specialized capabilities that a Linux execution environment does not automatically replace.

When to consider Sandbox0

Consider Sandbox0 for compatible Linux agents that prepare analyses, install tools and retain their working system across tasks. Pipeline scheduling, data governance, domain validation and GPU execution need explicit integrations and testing.

Online RootFS growth

On growth-enabled images, Sandbox0 automatically expands the writable RootFS as free space runs low, within a configured sparse logical ceiling up to 64 TiB. Agent processes keep running. Growth is enabled in the qualified Cloud region; confirm activation for other regions. Existing images and snapshots retain their captured storage geometry. The ceiling is logical capacity, not preallocated host disk.

FlowDeploy’s historical pipeline platform does not establish automatic RootFS growth. For any retained installation, inspect the actual VM, container and storage backend before deciding what files survive or how capacity changes.

Files while compute is paused

Sandbox0's Files API reads persistent files without resuming compute. Filesystem-only pauses also permit edits; retained-memory pauses are read-only and reject mutations with 409. SSH, SFTP, file watching, and runtime-only mounts require running compute.

Inactive status changes the buying decision

YC identifies FlowDeploy as inactive, but does not establish a shutdown date, the status of every customer deployment, or a current numeric tariff. Confirm any existing agreement and access directly before planning an export or relying on new onboarding.

A bioinformatics pipeline platform has a wider workflow contract

The company profile describes Nextflow and Snakemake workflows, AWS integration, pipeline templates, launch and monitoring APIs, and managed or customer-cloud execution. Replacing the execution environment alone does not reproduce those scheduling, collaboration and pipeline-management features.

Migrate from the actual data backend

Inventory workflow definitions, versioned containers, inputs, outputs and credentials in the cloud account that actually holds them. Preserve verified copies while access is available. Retention and restart behavior depend on that installation; historical workflow descriptions do not establish whole-RootFS or RAM persistence.

Pricing

Compare billing models, then price your workload

CPU allocation, memory, billing minimums, disk, plan fees, and supported workload differ. These meters are not equal-performance machine quotes. Confirm region, resource units, and included allowances before estimating a total.

$0.015/GiB-hour compute (billed by the second at approximately $0.000004167/GiB-second), plus $0.02/GiB-month of retained incremental RootFS and memory checkpoint data. Shared base images and platform recovery retention are excluded; paused sandboxes accrue storage charges only.

$6.00 compute

4 GiB × 100 hours, billed by the second. Keeping 20 GiB of billable incremental data for a full billing month adds $0.40. CPU is derived from memory by the platform; choose a tier that fits your workload.

Before migrating from FlowDeploy Bioinformatics Pipelines

  1. Locate accessible workflows, images and data in the original managed or customer-cloud account, and verify backup completeness.
  2. Port compatible Linux tools and agent steps while rebuilding or retaining the required Nextflow/Snakemake scheduling and data integrations.
  3. Validate pipeline outputs, dependencies, credentials, network access and cost with representative non-sensitive data before changing the production workflow.

Common questions

Is Sandbox0 a drop-in FlowDeploy Bioinformatics Pipelines replacement?

Evaluate API compatibility and product scope. These products serve different core workflows, so a change may require a different architecture.

Does keeping files also keep a running agent?

Filesystem state and volatile process state are separate. Sandbox0 requires explicit compatible memory checkpoints to preserve running processes; its default filesystem resume starts fresh processes.
