A MiniMax agent alternative

The directory groups MiniMax agent hosting and developer APIs, but current primary sources describe several different products: model APIs, M Plan, MiniMax Code and Mini-Agent. None of their token prices is automatically a quote for a reusable hosted Linux sandbox. Choose which layer you are replacing before comparing costs.

When MiniMax Agent hosting / developer API scope fits

MiniMax fits teams choosing its models, using the MiniMax Code application or running the Mini-Agent example in an environment they control. Those model and agent choices can be retained alongside a separate execution runtime.

When to consider Sandbox0

Consider Sandbox0 for the compatible Linux environment beneath your own agent: installed software, system configuration and data persist on an automatically growing RootFS. It does not replace a model subscription, application UI or an agent loop by itself.

Online RootFS growth

On growth-enabled images, Sandbox0 automatically expands the writable RootFS as free space runs low, within a configured sparse logical ceiling up to 64 TiB. Agent processes keep running. Growth is enabled in the qualified Cloud region; confirm activation for other regions. Existing images and snapshots retain their captured storage geometry. The ceiling is logical capacity, not preallocated host disk.

A model quota or local agent example does not establish hosted disk geometry or automatic online whole-RootFS growth. The execution host determines those properties. Sandbox0 can provide the growing durable Linux environment while the application continues calling MiniMax models.

Files while compute is paused

Sandbox0's Files API reads persistent files without resuming compute. Filesystem-only pauses also permit edits; retained-memory pauses are read-only and reject mutations with 409. SSH, SFTP, file watching, and runtime-only mounts require running compute.

M Plan and pay-as-you-go describe model access

The current M Plan overview describes Go, Explore and Build tiers and access through MiniMax Code or connected AI tools. Older Token Plan URLs redirect into current documentation, so do not reuse old subscription names or prices as a current machine offer. Model API pricing and plan benefits must be evaluated separately from execution infrastructure.

MiniMax Code and Mini-Agent have different ownership boundaries

MiniMax Code is an application with desktop and mobile task workflows and M Plan sign-in. Mini-Agent is a runnable agent example using MiniMax APIs, local tooling and MCP integrations. Running that example on your own infrastructure leaves its host lifecycle, filesystem and operations under your control.

Inference unit rates do not include a durable computer

The current API table publishes model input/output and prompt-cache meters. That establishes a model cost, not retained disk, CPU, RAM, sandbox timeout or checkpoint pricing. Keep MiniMax inference when useful and price a separate Sandbox0 runtime from its resource and retained-storage meters.

Pricing

Compare billing models, then price your workload

CPU allocation, memory, billing minimums, disk, plan fees, and supported workload differ. These meters are not equal-performance machine quotes. Confirm region, resource units, and included allowances before estimating a total.

$0.015/GiB-hour compute (billed by the second at approximately $0.000004167/GiB-second), plus $0.02/GiB-month of retained incremental RootFS and memory checkpoint data. Shared base images and platform recovery retention are excluded; paused sandboxes accrue storage charges only.

$6.00 compute

4 GiB × 100 hours, billed by the second. Keeping 20 GiB of billable incremental data for a full billing month adds $0.40. CPU is derived from memory by the platform; choose a tier that fits your workload.

Before migrating from MiniMax Agent hosting / developer API scope

  1. Identify whether the dependency is a MiniMax model, M Plan benefit, MiniMax Code application or the runnable Mini-Agent framework; export only supported application data and configuration.
  2. Deploy a compatible agent harness on Sandbox0 and reconnect the chosen model APIs, tools, MCP services, credentials and application interface.
  3. Validate full-system package retention, long tasks, online RootFS growth, paused files and separate model-token versus runtime/storage costs.

Common questions

Is Sandbox0 a drop-in MiniMax Agent hosting / developer API scope replacement?

Evaluate API compatibility and product scope. These products serve different core workflows, so a change may require a different architecture.

Does keeping files also keep a running agent?

Filesystem state and volatile process state are separate. Sandbox0 requires explicit compatible memory checkpoints to preserve running processes; its default filesystem resume starts fresh processes.
