GPU clouds / Mistral Compute / AI Cloud alternative

A Mistral Compute alternative for the surrounding agent runtime

Mistral Compute currently offers dedicated high-performance GPU capacity operated in Europe, with managed Slurm and Kubernetes. That reserved infrastructure offer differs from Mistral model API access and from a small Linux environment that an agent returns to between tasks. Compare capacity agreements and execution-state requirements separately.

When Mistral Compute / AI Cloud fits

Mistral Compute fits organizations securing European accelerator capacity for training, HPC and production AI, with managed infrastructure, governance and specialist support. Region, hardware and capacity commitments are central to the choice.

When to consider Sandbox0

Consider Sandbox0 for compatible Linux agents needing a durable complete writable RootFS, automatic online growth and supported files while compute stays paused. GPU capacity, European residency requirements and model services need their own verified integration and regional assessment.

Online RootFS growth

On growth-enabled images, Sandbox0 automatically expands the writable RootFS as free space runs low, within a configured sparse logical ceiling up to 64 TiB. Agent processes keep running. Growth is enabled in the qualified Cloud region; confirm activation for other regions. Existing images and snapshots retain their captured storage geometry. The ceiling is logical capacity, not preallocated host disk.

Managed Slurm/Kubernetes scaling and reserved GPU capacity do not establish automatic enlargement of a per-agent writable RootFS. Verify the configured storage separately; Sandbox0’s growth promise applies to enabled RootFS generations under its rollout and geometry qualifications.

Files while compute is paused

Sandbox0's Files API reads persistent files without resuming compute. Filesystem-only pauses also permit edits; retained-memory pauses are read-only and reject mutations with 409. SSH, SFTP, file watching, and runtime-only mounts require running compute.

The current offer is managed reserved infrastructure

Current Compute pages describe dedicated GPU capacity on EU infrastructure and managed Slurm and Kubernetes. The 2025 announcement also described a broader integrated stack; use the current configured offer and agreement to establish available services and capacity rather than assuming every announcement form factor is self-serve.

Storage and checkpoint guarantees require the actual contract

Managed orchestration, observability and enterprise identity do not alone specify how a user’s mutable boot filesystem survives job completion, node replacement or compute suspension. Confirm durable storage, backup, job checkpoint and GPU memory requirements for the selected deployment.

Model tokens are not a GPU reservation tariff

A model API price or exchange-rate conversion does not establish the cost of a reserved GPU cluster. The current Compute page requests a commercial conversation rather than publishing a numeric device-hour rate. Obtain the complete capacity, storage, support and commitment terms before budgeting.

Compare billing models, then price your workload

CPU allocation, memory, billing minimums, disk, plan fees, and supported workload differ. These meters are not equal-performance machine quotes. Confirm region, resource units, and included allowances before estimating a total.

Before migrating from Mistral Compute / AI Cloud

  1. Record European residency, accelerator topology, schedulers, durable storage, checkpoints, identities and capacity commitments.
  2. Retain infrastructure required for GPU or regional workloads; port only compatible Linux agent orchestration and verified files to an appropriate Sandbox0 region.
  3. Validate system retention, growth, supported paused files, model connectivity and task recovery, and compare the full combined infrastructure budget.

Common questions

Is Sandbox0 a drop-in Mistral Compute / AI Cloud replacement?

Evaluate API compatibility and product scope. These products serve different core workflows, so a change may require a different architecture.

Does keeping files also keep a running agent?

Filesystem state and volatile process state are separate. Sandbox0 requires explicit compatible memory checkpoints to preserve running processes; its default filesystem resume starts fresh processes.
