Application platforms / Modelence Cloud alternative

A Modelence Cloud alternative for a returning Linux agent

Modelence currently operates application backends, databases and scheduled work, with deployment and monitoring integrations for coding agents. Its cloud file storage and managed databases preserve application data. That is different from retaining every mutable operating-system path of the computer where an agent executes tasks.

When Modelence Cloud fits

Modelence fits teams deploying supported applications with managed databases, monitoring and application operations. Its framework, app builder and deployment platform serve different parts of that workflow.

When to consider Sandbox0

Consider Sandbox0 for compatible Linux agents that install tools, change system configuration and accumulate files on the same durable whole writable RootFS, with automatic online growth and supported files while compute stays paused.

Online RootFS growth

On growth-enabled images, Sandbox0 automatically expands the writable RootFS as free space runs low, within a configured sparse logical ceiling up to 64 TiB. Agent processes keep running. Growth is enabled in the qualified Cloud region; confirm activation for other regions. Existing images and snapshots retain their captured storage geometry. The ceiling is logical capacity, not preallocated host disk.

Modelence exposes application container tiers, replica and plan limits. Those controls do not establish automatic online growth of the whole mutable agent RootFS; managed database and file-store capacity are separate services.

Files while compute is paused

Sandbox0's Files API reads persistent files without resuming compute. Filesystem-only pauses also permit edits; retained-memory pauses are read-only and reject mutations with 409. SSH, SFTP, file watching, and runtime-only mounts require running compute.

Managed signed-URL file access is an application-data interface, not a whole-RootFS interface. Sandbox0’s supported offline operations target its durable writable RootFS while sandbox compute stays paused, with reads only for retained-memory generations.

Deploying an app and retaining an agent machine are separate needs

The deployment guide builds a Docker image from the repository using a supported Node.js base and runs the declared web process. Managed PostgreSQL and Redis resources can be wired into the application. Repository builds and process replacement do not themselves establish retention of all runtime changes under /etc, /usr/local or other OS paths.

Cloud files already have managed upload and download paths

Modelence documents public files with permanent URLs and private files with signed URLs, plus upload, download and delete helpers. Application code must enforce file ownership and authorization. This managed file store is useful durable application data, rather than the complete mutable root filesystem of a sleeping app container.

A paid monthly minimum includes the same amount of usage

Starter includes $20 cloud usage in its $20 monthly minimum; Pro similarly includes $100. Extra usage is billed afterward. The pricing grid advertises autopilot on lower tiers, while the FAQ scopes 24/7 operations to Pro, Scale and Enterprise; confirm the actual lower-tier service commitment before choosing a plan.

Compare billing models, then price your workload

CPU allocation, memory, billing minimums, disk, plan fees, and supported workload differ. These meters are not equal-performance machine quotes. Confirm region, resource units, and included allowances before estimating a total.

Sandbox0

$0.015/GiB-hour compute (billed by the second at approximately $0.000004167/GiB-second), plus $0.02/GiB-month of retained incremental RootFS and memory checkpoint data. Shared base images and platform recovery retention are excluded; paused sandboxes accrue storage charges only.

A 4 GiB agent, 100 running hours

$6.00 compute

4 GiB × 100 hours, billed by the second. Keeping 20 GiB of billable incremental data for a full billing month adds $0.40. CPU is derived from memory by the platform; choose a tier that fits your workload.

Before migrating from Modelence Cloud

  1. Inventory app builds, processes, managed databases, uploaded files, environment variables and app-builder dependencies separately.
  2. Retain or replace required application services and port compatible Linux agent execution with verified exports of its tools and files.
  3. Test system-path retention, growth, supported paused-file access, application integrations and the monthly minimum plus actual resource usage.

Common questions

Is Sandbox0 a drop-in Modelence Cloud replacement?

Evaluate API compatibility and product scope. These products serve different core workflows, so a change may require a different architecture.

Does keeping files also keep a running agent?

Filesystem state and volatile process state are separate. Sandbox0 requires explicit compatible memory checkpoints to preserve running processes; its default filesystem resume starts fresh processes.
