Agent sandboxes / YepCode Run and Storage alternative

A YepCode Run alternative for a returning Linux agent

YepCode Run executes JavaScript and Python for agents with dependency installation, limits, secrets and structured results. YepCode Storage separately retains files and exposes external APIs. Local process disk is temporary, so persistent artifacts and the operating-system environment have different lifecycles.

When YepCode Run and Storage fits

YepCode fits teams executing code snippets and automations with its JavaScript/Python environment, integrations, schedules and Storage APIs. Those execution and data interfaces can remain useful parts of an agent workflow.

When to consider Sandbox0

Choose Sandbox0 for compatible Linux agents needing installed system tools, configuration and files across the complete durable writable RootFS, with automatic online growth and supported files while compute stays paused.

Online RootFS growth

On growth-enabled images, Sandbox0 automatically expands the writable RootFS as free space runs low, within a configured sparse logical ceiling up to 64 TiB. Agent processes keep running. Growth is enabled in the qualified Cloud region; confirm activation for other regions. Existing images and snapshots retain their captured storage geometry. The ceiling is logical capacity, not preallocated host disk.

Larger plan-specific local-disk allowances remain temporary and separate from YepCode Storage. They do not establish automatic online growth of a complete durable agent RootFS.

Files while compute is paused

Sandbox0's Files API reads persistent files without resuming compute. Filesystem-only pauses also permit edits; retained-memory pauses are read-only and reject mutations with 409. SSH, SFTP, file watching, and runtime-only mounts require running compute.

YepCode already provides external Storage APIs and signed URLs for retained files. Sandbox0’s distinction is supported operations on its durable writable RootFS while guest compute is paused, with mutations restricted to filesystem-only generations.

Local process files are cleaned after execution

YepCode’s local-disk guide explicitly says the temporary directory is cleaned after process execution and must not be relied on between executions. Upload required results to YepCode Storage for retention. A paid plan’s larger local disk allowance changes capacity, not this temporary lifecycle.

Storage already works through external APIs and signed URLs

YepCode Storage supports upload, download, list, delete and signed URLs through SDKs, REST and MCP tools. That is independent artifact access, rather than retention of every runtime operating-system path or process memory.

A Yep is rounded execution time with plan-specific limits

One Yep is one process-execution second rounded up. Starter includes fifteen million Yeps and a one-hour execution limit; Growth includes 150 million and a twelve-hour limit. Paid overage and unused-credit rollover rules differ from the free plan, and Enterprise resource limits are configurable.

Pricing

Compare billing models, then price your workload

CPU allocation, memory, billing minimums, disk, plan fees, and supported workload differ. These meters are not equal-performance machine quotes. Confirm region, resource units, and included allowances before estimating a total.

A fractional execution second rounds up to one Yep. Unused Yeps do not roll over. Starter and Growth have different RAM, concurrency, file-count, local-disk and history limits; history retention is not a whole-filesystem checkpoint promise. Include the needed storage and account features when comparing costs.

Before migrating from YepCode Run and Storage

  1. Inventory JavaScript/Python processes, packages, secrets, schedules, temporary paths, stored artifacts and per-plan execution limits.
  2. Retain required APIs or port compatible Linux execution with verified tools and exported Storage files.
  3. Test system retention, online growth and paused files separately from process results and rounded execution-second costs.

Common questions

Is Sandbox0 a drop-in YepCode Run and Storage replacement?

Evaluate API compatibility and product scope. A shared sandbox category does not make SDKs, lifecycle semantics, or limits interchangeable.

Does keeping files also keep a running agent?

Filesystem state and volatile process state are separate. Sandbox0 requires explicit compatible memory checkpoints to preserve running processes; its default filesystem resume starts fresh processes.
