AutoComputer alternative for persistent agent runtimes

AutoComputer’s current company profile describes data and post-training research services that turn traces into evaluation/training environments. The same profile retains an earlier Windows/macOS desktop-automation launch, and a published SDK describes remote computers and local VMs. These are different scopes; confirm the currently offered product before assuming a hosted Windows runtime contract.

When AutoComputer Research / Computer-use Services fits

Consider AutoComputer when research services, trace-to-environment work or its computer-use automation capabilities match the project. Obtain current access, supported OS, deployment and commercial terms for the exact engagement.

When to consider Sandbox0

Consider Sandbox0 when the requirement is a compatible Linux agent runtime with durable whole writable RootFS state, online automatic growth and supported paused files. Research services, a desktop automation agent and native Windows/macOS applications may still require separate tooling.

Online RootFS growth

On growth-enabled images, Sandbox0 automatically expands the writable RootFS as free space runs low, within a configured sparse logical ceiling up to 64 TiB. Agent processes keep running. Growth is enabled in the qualified Cloud region; confirm activation for other regions. Existing images and snapshots retain their captured storage geometry. The ceiling is logical capacity, not preallocated host disk.

The cited research-services profile and automation SDK do not establish automatic online low-space growth of a complete durable hosted RootFS. Confirm any current computer/storage contract rather than inferring it from desktop automation.

Files while compute is paused

Sandbox0's Files API reads persistent files without resuming compute. Filesystem-only pauses also permit edits; retained-memory pauses are read-only and reject mutations with 409. SSH, SFTP, file watching, and runtime-only mounts require running compute.

Automating a running local or remote desktop is different from a native file API over a paused computer’s entire durable RootFS. The cited SDK overview does not establish that paused-file interface.

Current services and historical launch material differ

The current company summary emphasizes research and post-training services. Its earlier launch describes user-supervised desktop automation on Windows and macOS. That historical launch does not prove a currently purchasable cloud VM, API entitlement or supported OS image.

The SDK describes automation, not a complete service guarantee

The published Python SDK describes provisioning remote computers or connecting local VMs and streaming workflow progress. It requires an API key. The repository alone does not establish present onboarding, commercial availability, persistence scope or arbitrary memory-checkpoint semantics.

Request the actual scope and price

The cited current company profile and SDK do not publish a verified numeric hosted-computer tariff. Confirm the research engagement or automation service, deployment model, duration, retained storage and support before making a cost comparison. Missing public prices must not be treated as free service.

Pricing

Compare billing models, then price your workload

CPU allocation, memory, billing minimums, disk, plan fees, and supported workload differ. These meters are not equal-performance machine quotes. Confirm region, resource units, and included allowances before estimating a total.

Sandbox0

$0.015/GiB-hour compute (billed by the second at approximately $0.000004167/GiB-second), plus $0.02/GiB-month of retained incremental RootFS and memory checkpoint data. Shared base images and platform recovery retention are excluded; paused sandboxes accrue storage charges only.

A 4 GiB agent, 100 running hours

$6.00 compute

4 GiB × 100 hours, billed by the second. Keeping 20 GiB of billable incremental data for a full billing month adds $0.40. CPU is derived from memory by the platform; choose a tier that fits your workload.

Before migrating from AutoComputer Research / Computer-use Services

  1. Confirm the currently offered AutoComputer service, API onboarding, supported OS, local versus hosted deployment, data retention and commercial terms.
  2. Export required files/traces and port compatible Linux agent stages while retaining research services or native desktop automation where needed.
  3. Validate returning system state, online growth, paused files, required process continuity and all service plus underlying infrastructure costs.

Common questions

Is Sandbox0 a drop-in AutoComputer Research / Computer-use Services replacement?

Evaluate API compatibility and product scope. These products serve different core workflows, so a change may require a different architecture.

Does keeping files also keep a running agent?

Filesystem state and volatile process state are separate. Sandbox0 requires explicit compatible memory checkpoints to preserve running processes; its default filesystem resume starts fresh processes.
