Inference APIs / RunAnywhere Wally and Local SDKs alternative

A RunAnywhere Wally alternative for agent execution

RunAnywhere currently offers Wally hosted inference alongside local SDKs and neural accelerators. Hosted API calls and on-device inference have different execution and privacy boundaries. Neither product should be treated as a generic hosted computer that retains an agent’s complete mutable operating system.

When RunAnywhere Wally and Local SDKs fits

RunAnywhere fits teams choosing local inference SDKs or Wally-hosted model access. Keep required models, device acceleration and API integrations; a Linux agent sandbox is a separate execution layer.

When to consider Sandbox0

Choose Sandbox0 for compatible Linux agents that install tools, retain system configuration and grow files across tasks, with a complete durable writable RootFS, online growth and supported paused files. Continue using suitable inference providers.

Online RootFS growth

On growth-enabled images, Sandbox0 automatically expands the writable RootFS as free space runs low, within a configured sparse logical ceiling up to 64 TiB. Agent processes keep running. Growth is enabled in the qualified Cloud region; confirm activation for other regions. Existing images and snapshots retain their captured storage geometry. The ceiling is logical capacity, not preallocated host disk.

Local device storage is managed by the embedding application; hosted token inference does not establish automatic online growth of a durable per-agent RootFS.

Files while compute is paused

Sandbox0's Files API reads persistent files without resuming compute. Filesystem-only pauses also permit edits; retained-memory pauses are read-only and reject mutations with 409. SSH, SFTP, file watching, and runtime-only mounts require running compute.

Hosted and device execution are explicit choices

The Wally guide distinguishes cloud inference from local execution and says there is no silent fallback. Local SDK privacy properties must not be applied to requests sent to hosted models. Wally’s production prompt and completion body retention terms are distinct from usage and billing records.

Token prices describe specific hosted models

The public Wally price table gives USD rates per million input, output and cached-input tokens. Different models have different prices; available model access can depend on the API key’s entitlements. These are inference charges, not a general Linux compute or persistent disk tariff.

Preview terms affect production planning

The current terms describe Wally as a preview without an uptime or support-response commitment. Prepaid credits fund usage and requests fail when the balance is exhausted. A promotional $5 welcome grant is not recurring free capacity or a refundable cash balance.

Compare billing models, then price your workload

CPU allocation, memory, billing minimums, disk, plan fees, and supported workload differ. These meters are not equal-performance machine quotes. Confirm region, resource units, and included allowances before estimating a total.

$0.015/GiB-hour compute (billed by the second at approximately $0.000004167/GiB-second), plus $0.02/GiB-month of retained incremental RootFS and memory checkpoint data. Shared base images and platform recovery retention are excluded; paused sandboxes accrue storage charges only.

$6.00 compute

4 GiB × 100 hours, billed by the second. Keeping 20 GiB of billable incremental data for a full billing month adds $0.40. CPU is derived from memory by the platform; choose a tier that fits your workload.

Before migrating from RunAnywhere Wally and Local SDKs

  1. Separate Wally API calls, local SDK integrations, model licenses and device-specific acceleration.
  2. Retain suitable inference paths and port compatible Linux agent execution with verified system tools and files.
  3. Test inference behavior separately from agent disk retention, growth, paused-file operations and combined usage costs.

Common questions

Is Sandbox0 a drop-in RunAnywhere Wally and Local SDKs replacement?

Evaluate API compatibility and product scope. These products serve different core workflows, so a change may require a different architecture.

Does keeping files also keep a running agent?

Filesystem state and volatile process state are separate. Sandbox0 requires explicit compatible memory checkpoints to preserve running processes; its default filesystem resume starts fresh processes.
