macOS compute / Green Mini host alternative

Green Mini host alternative for Linux agents

Green Mini host rents dedicated physical Macs with full administrative access and also offers colocation. It fits macOS, Xcode and Apple-hardware workflows. The relevant Sandbox0 comparison is moving Linux-compatible agent stages to a managed Linux runtime while retaining the Mac stages that need Apple’s platform.

When Green Mini host fits

Keep Green Mini host for Xcode builds, macOS apps, Apple-specific testing and full dedicated Mac control. Its complete system disk and installed macOS software are persistent machine state, beyond a workspace folder.

When to consider Sandbox0

Consider Sandbox0 for Linux-compatible command execution, package/tool installation and accumulated files that need online RootFS growth and supported paused-file access. Route macOS/Xcode-dependent stages to a Mac service.

Online RootFS growth

On growth-enabled images, Sandbox0 automatically expands the writable RootFS as free space runs low, within a configured sparse logical ceiling up to 64 TiB. Agent processes keep running. Growth is enabled in the qualified Cloud region; confirm activation for other regions. Existing images and snapshots retain their captured storage geometry. The ceiling is logical capacity, not preallocated host disk.

Green Mini host already preserves a complete installed Mac on local SSD. Hardware/model storage choices are distinct from automatic online growth of a compatible Linux agent’s durable RootFS. Keep macOS-specific stages on Apple hardware.

Files while compute is paused

Sandbox0's Files API reads persistent files without resuming compute. Filesystem-only pauses also permit edits; retained-memory pauses are read-only and reject mutations with 409. SSH, SFTP, file watching, and runtime-only mounts require running compute.

Remote Mac administration, reboot, file sharing and restore workflows require appropriate running hardware or another environment. The reviewed hosting contract does not establish native file operations throughout the original stopped machine’s RootFS without compute.

A whole physical Mac is already a persistent computer

The product page says hosting is fully dedicated without virtualization and includes root/admin control, remote power and local SSD choices. Retention and available capacity follow the rented or colocated physical machine; this is not a shared managed user account.

Annual and monthly headline figures differ

The M4 comparison page states €74/month when billed annually and €84 for monthly billing. The general products page lists starting prices across M2, M4, M4 Pro and Studio hardware. Confirm model, RAM, SSD, billing term, tax and delivery stock rather than treating every from-price as monthly cancellation terms.

Hardware capacity and deployment differ from a sandbox lifecycle

Mac models have fixed or ordered RAM/SSD configurations and deployment can take hours to a day depending on stock. Remote reboot and physical ownership/colocation are different from a managed Linux runtime’s compute pause and automatic online durable RootFS expansion.

Published prices exclude VAT, with account/location rules stated by the provider. Custom RAM/SSD, model inventory, term, physical ownership, network/fair use and support options affect the bill. Compare workload stages and full payment commitments; no macOS/Xcode compatibility or equal-performance claim is made for a Linux runtime.

Before migrating from Green Mini host

  1. Separate macOS/Xcode/Apple-device stages from Linux-compatible tools, files and orchestration; record model, SSD, term and ownership.
  2. Port only compatible Linux stages to Sandbox0 and retain the Mac service plus required artifact transfer and credentials.
  3. Verify system tools, online growth, paused files, cross-platform outputs and total Mac reservation plus runtime/storage/network costs.

Common questions

Is Sandbox0 a drop-in Green Mini host replacement?

Evaluate API compatibility and product scope. These products serve different core workflows, so a change may require a different architecture.

Does keeping files also keep a running agent?

Filesystem state and volatile process state are separate. Sandbox0 requires explicit compatible memory checkpoints to preserve running processes; its default filesystem resume starts fresh processes.
